ATTENTION ALL USERS! IMPORTANT LEGAL INFORMATION..

Greetings everyone.

Thank you to Libberachi for bringing this to my attention!

Our "awesome" and "super competent" congress has decided to create a bill that if passed could and will shut down websites such as youtube and possibly deviantart. It is a copyright infringement violation bill but to the extreme. It is designed that the people themselves, not just the website, that post anything copyrighted online such as a video of yourself singing karaoke of a copyrighted song, you will get penalized and fined and imprisoned.

Pardon my language but this is a load of BULLSHIT. I'm all for protecting copyright but arresting someone for posting a harmless video of singing karaoke onilne? seriously?

As linked in the blog there is a petition you can sign that will be sent to congress so that hopefully they don't end up passing this bill!

EDIT: Also to clear up, for anyone who has read AssClownFish's blog about it, he's not necessarily saying the bill itself is a fake. He is saying it doesn't affect fanart. It is infact a legitimate bill. Otherwise it wouldn't be on government websites. It is an exaggerated bill of an already existing law. It is his personal opinion whether or not petitions are useful but as far as the bill being a fake? Sorry to burst your bubbles but it's not. It just doesn't affect fanart specifically. Things such as youtube yes. Posting copyrighted songs on YT is already a legal issue but the problem is that if this bill passes, even people singing karaoke could get penalized as opposed to just having their videos removed. That's where *my* issue lies since I sing a lot of karaoke. But yeah. Just saying. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
